The washed cadet hat is the one you reach for without thinking about it. The garment wash does the work a year of wear usually does, so it fits like a hat you have owned for a while rather than one you just unboxed. The crown is unstructured and sits close to the head, giving it the vintage military line rather than the tall, stiff look.
Half of this hat used to be something else. The twill is 50% recycled PET polyester spun from post-consumer plastic, blended with 50% cotton. That recycled half is why the surface has a quiet texture to it, and the cotton half is why it stays soft where it touches your forehead. On the white colorway, fine flecks come through as a natural part of the recycled fiber, so no two are identical.
One size fits most, unisex. The self-fabric back strap closes with hook and loop, so it opens wide for thicker hair or a ponytail and pulls in when the wind picks up. It lies flat enough to wear under a hood.
Pack it flat, wear it daily, hand wash cold and let it air dry.
